I would follow John Jeremiah Sullivan with more JJS. Blood Horses is amazing. Darin Strauss’ Half a Life or Ghosty Men by Franz Lidz wouldn’t be bad places to visit next. And simply because I will be recommending this book whenever possible for the next few months, I would say it would be a very good idea to find Joan Wickersham’s The News From Spain, which is the kind of short story collection that even all the short story haters cannot hate.
