Next Thursday, Tumblr will be celebrating Book Expo America at our favorite bookstore with three of our favorite authors! This is a meet up for readers and writers of all ages, with drinks for the adults and swag and short, funny readings for everyone! Here for BEA? Work at a publisher? Love Tumblr? Love books? Love people? Any of the above — this party is for you!

Ruth wrote Defriended, a creepy mystery about murder and online romance. Eliot wrote Endangered, a National Book Award finalist about bonobos in The Congo. Rainbow wrote the NY Times bestseller Eleanor &Park, a Tumblr favorite about weird kids in love. They are all terrific, so don’t miss it!

Rainbow Rowell lives in Nebraska, and this is her only public event while she’s in New York for BEA. We’re so honored and excited!

So thrilled to be reading at a Tumblr party while I’m in NYC…

I’m (obviously) (obviously) obsessed with Tumblr. It’s where I park my brain when it doesn’t have to be anywhere else.

And even when I’m not on the site, I find myself talking about it. Evangelizing for it.

I’m fascinated by the way Tumblr’s design and function affect its atmosphere. It’s such a great example of how the way something works defines what it is and how people use it. I don’t think it’s an accident that Tumblr is a magnet for creativity/enthusiasm (fandom)/social justice …

Also, I feel strangely protective of Tumblr; it’s not that I want it all to myself, but I want only good things for it. I find myself taking screenshots of my Tumblr archive — because I’m not sure how the site will change in the future, and I want to remember how carbonated it felt to be on Tumblr right now.

Anyway. Nobody at Tumblr asked me to wax badly poetic about it. They just asked me to come read at their party.

So come join me!

You don’t have to have BookExpo America passes to come to this event. It’s open to the public. And Housing Works is a really, really cool bookspace. It’s an all-ages party, but drinks are free if you’re old enough/interested.
